If Serbia regains control over Kosovo, what protections would the ethnic Albanians have?

Given the claims of Albanian abuse against Serbs, and given the great many times I've heard Serbs call for revenge against the Albanians in Kosovo, I have come to trust the leadership of neither of the two sides. Given that historically, neither side has much of a dignified reputation of respecting the other when it comes to Kosovo, my question is this: what protections will ordinary, non-threatening Albanians living in Kosovo have if Serbia regains undisputed sovereignty over Kosovo? What recourse will the Albanians have under Serbian sovereignty if their legitimate rights are threatened or abrogated by a Serbian authorities, especially considering that Serbia has a mive military?
