I believe you would benefit from counselling and also from cognitive behavioural therapy, which is used to combat OCD. If you see your G.P., he/she will be able to arrange this for you and may also suggest medication. It isn't worth struggling along alone with this, there is some help out there. I have a friend who has this condition and it isn't the condition itself that gets on my nerves but the fact that she won't do anything about it and refuses to seek medical help. I just avoid her now.
