Do you think he likes me or would a player do the same?

Met this guy out and really hit it off. Only exchanged numbers and kissed. We live 3 hours away from each other but he texts me or facebook chats me throughout the week. Its always just small chat and maybe some flirty banter. Would a guy still bother to keep some sort of connection if he just wanted to hook up or is there something more?
