Changing my belly on ring?

ok so i got my belly on peirced 6 days ago, and its still red at the top and a little bit tender but no puss or infection so i wanna change the ring but everyones telling me it will get badly infected..that dosent make sense to me cause the ring in it now has dried blood and scabs from it healing..so if i take it out..clean the hole out and disinfect the new ring...wouldnt it be MORE sanitary?
